                        ASPI for DOS Sample Code

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

For additional information on creating ASPI for DOS device drivers and
applications please refer to the source code from the following examples
as well as the ASPI for DOS specification included with this Developer's Kit.

ASPI1DSK:
=-=-=-=-=
     The source code in this subdirectory will enable you to create
     ASPI1DSK.SYS. This is a SCSI DOS Disk Driver which can handle at most
     one SCSI partition on one SCSI drive. Please refer to the top of the
     ASPI1DSK.ASM file for more information. There is included a MAKEFILE
     to automatically create the executable for you. Simply type NMAKE if
     you are using Microsoft tools. If you do not have NMAKE, you can
     assemble/link the driver manually. For example:

     C:\ASPI1DSK> masm aspi1dsk.asm;
     C:\ASPI1DSK> masm messages.asm;
     C:\ASPI1DSK> link aspi1dsk+messages,aspi1dsk;
     C:\ASPI1DSK> exe2bin aspi1dsk.exe aspi1dsk.sys

     Modifying the MAKEFILE for non-Microsoft tools should be straight-
     forward. Please consult your appropriate documentation.

ASPIDEMO:
=-=-=-=-=
     The source code in this subdirectory will enable you to create
     ASPIDEMO.EXE. This is an ASPI demonstration utility for DOS. Please
     refer to the top of the ASPIDEMO.ASM file for more information. There
     is included a MAKEFILE to automatically create the executable for you.
     Simply type NMAKE if you are using Microsoft tools. If you do not have
     NMAKE, you can assemble/link the program manually. For example:

     C:\ASPIDEMO> masm aspidemo.asm;
     C:\ASPIDEMO> link aspidemo,aspidemo;

     Modifying the MAKEFILE for non-Microsoft tools should be straight-
     forward. Please consult your appropriate documentation.

Additional Support for ASPI Developers:

    Adaptec does not provide programming support for the ASPI layer. It is
    assumed that you are already familiar with the device you wish to
    control (e.g. CD-ROM driver, scanner, etc.). The sample source code
    provided in this SDK (available at http://www.adaptec.com) will get you
    started in your development. If you believe you have found a bug in the
    ASPI layer, please be sure you are using the latest ASPI layer from
    http://www.adaptec.com. If the problem persists, please send detailed
    information, with the steps to replicate the bug, to
    mailto:acap@corp.adaptec.com.
