I Need Help-A Problem With Installing Linux Mint On a 2012 MacBook Air

The Apple Airport Express can be used in bridge mode, and is cheap (I bought a pack of five for about $50) at shopgoodwill.com. It can be used to transmit music and as a print server. Setup is complicated by Apple's abandonment of the Airport line of products. Apple Airport Utility works on a...

Mac Plus - Video only when analog board pushed

The Mac Plus I bought new in 1986 developed this as an intermittent problem at age 6. Eventually I replaced the solder at the flyback transformer's leads, as eric described, and that solved it. In my case, the connections looked OK, so I'd recommend replacing the solder at these connections (and...

WON'T POWER ON: PowerBook Wallstreet PDQ

I'll bet that the recap works. I'm confident enough to put up as my bet five recapped M8407 TiBooks, one of which even occasionally boots (almost 1% of the time, upon last count).

Is it an SE or an SE/30?

Although less common, the SE's labelled "FDHD" and "Superdrive" could come configured with two 1.44 MB floppy drives instead of a floppy drive/hard drive combo. I have a couple of these.

WON'T POWER ON: PowerBook Wallstreet PDQ

If not done already, I would evaluate for barrel plug PCB failure by exchanging the barrel plug PCB's between the two PDQ's: - If the booting behavior follows the exchange (i.e. the non-booting PDQ now boots and the booting PDQ now doesn't boot), then the problem is the barrel plug PCB of the...

WON'T POWER ON: PowerBook Wallstreet PDQ

I agree with recapping, even if it does not seem clear how it would fix the problem. Recapping has solved some odd malfunctions that were difficult to diagnose in some of my older Macs.

WON'T POWER ON: PowerBook Wallstreet PDQ

For my PDQs and Lombards, I use an FSP AC adapter from Digikey (Digikey part number 2967-FSP050-DAAN3-ND, FSP part number FSP050-DAAN3) with a connector adapter from Bix Power. It appears that Bix Power does ship to Japan.

WON'T POWER ON: PowerBook Wallstreet PDQ

I wonder if maybe the external power supplies are on the point of failing, and cannot provide the current needed to boot the PDQ. The PSU voltage could well measure normally without that load, in such a case.

    Battery rebuild services

I don't know where you are located, but CHANS Battery Rebuild in Canada does good rebuilds at a reasonable price. Shipping from the US was expensive, but worth it for the batteries I received back.

What kind of expansion Card is this?

That looks like a Power Mac 6100 to me, so probaby a Sonnet G3 cpu upgrade for NuBus Power Macs.

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

I wonder if there'd be more demand for a kit at a lower price than the fully assembled device, but agree with JDW that increased public awareness that a fully assembled device is available would greatly increase the chances of its sale. --- Never mind - I see that you are already enquiring...

    The Brown SE

Sticking the plastic case out in bright sunlight for a day or keeping it for a couple weeks in a UV box, both without hydrogen peroxide, were reported as being successful on this forum at some point over the past few years.

PowerBook G3 Lombard 333Mhz - Main Battery Problem

Unfortunately, a deeply discharged lithium battery is very likely a damaged battery. It’s probably best not to try to revive it. You are better off having the battery rebuilt. CHANS Battery Rebuild in Canada did a good job with my Lombard battery.

    CRT compatibility

I once put my SE/30 project on hold for a full decade after spending a day fiddling with the magnets. I valued my sanity, and was at risk of losing it.
