BlueSCSI not playing nicely with Powerbook 170

Coming back to this issue. After more investigation with my PowerBook 170 I can tell that it is not related to the power adapter but to the PRAM battery draining out. With an aging PRAM battery, while using the laptop daily, there was no issue. However, if the laptop stayed off for a few days...

BlueSCSI not playing nicely with Powerbook 170

I just had a similar issue with a BlueSCSI v2. My PowerBook 170 randomly would not find any drive to boot from while my BlueSCSI seems to be correctly setup and has been working reliably within this machine for months. Sometimes opening the computer, removing the card to check the logs on a...

    CodeWarrior 9 resources?

I use CodeWarrior Pro 4 on my 9500 and it has syntax coloring. I believe that even early versions of CW had syntax coloring. The UIs, menus and even keyboard shortcuts are pretty similar to THINK C so if you are familiar with THINK C, you should find your way with CW. I find the CW debugger...

    MARCHintosh 2026 Projects

It is late in March but it's not too late for sharing my Marchintosh project! I have made a small lib that pops up a console window to log any data from your C code. It can be very useful for quickly debugging without having to open the debugger. You will find more info in this other post...

A console to live debug your C code

I have updated the logger.c lib, that I made last year, to implement a graphical console that pops up in your C app so that you can quickly log and see any data from your application. It is fairly lightweight (just a logger.c and logger.h files) that you add to your project. You can get those...

    Styling a Text Edit control

This link is very helpful! If I call InvertRect after updating my TEHandle, I get the expected result but it flickers when updating because the update uses black on white before inverting. I will keep investigating the way to style the TEHandle directly so it outputs white on black straight away.

    Styling a Text Edit control

I am updating my Logger library to incorporate a Console that is popping up at the bottom of the window from the developed app. I am using a TEHandle to achieve that and I am pretty happy with it. However, I would like to make my console black with white text. Is there any way to achieve that...

macintoshgarden.org blacklisted my IP while making a MacProxy extension

Thanks for the link @Certificate of Excellence ! I can now load the website again, which is great! It seems that there is a limit of connections per minute so I may just try to replicate a few pages of the website on my local machine to parse the HTML without having to send requests to the real...

macintoshgarden.org blacklisted my IP while making a MacProxy extension

I am trying to make a MacProxy Plus extension for macintoshgarden.org in order to use the website under System 6 with MacWeb. I am learning about those Python extensions in the process. Unfortunately, the macintoshgarden server has seen my requests as hostile and I am now getting a...

Trying to ressurect a Power Macintosh 9600/350

I can also add that if you force reboot the Mac during the RAM test (Ctrl Cmd Power) it won't proceed with the RAM test on the second boot. RAM test is only triggered on a cold boot. I am not sure if this can damage the RAM though and this is a trick impatient me sometimes uses for fast booting...

    Making a 1-bit game engine

Sorry, I put my project on a private group and couldn't make it public. I just re-created the repo as a personal project and made it public: https://gitlab.com/ftech31/classicsprite (I updated the link on my post above)

    Making a 1-bit game engine

I have made a repo on Gitlab so you can already play with the code: https://gitlab.com/ftech31/classicsprite I am not sure I package the project correctly, I am not used to this kind of retro computing repo so any comments are welcome! Unfortunately there is no documentation yet. This will be a...

    Making a 1-bit game engine

Thanks for sharing @sam256. Those are great sources of examples. I believe Continuum implements the alternate screen hack and features a pretty smooth scrolling background. I will definitely check that out!

    Making a 1-bit game engine

Thanks for your comment @Mu0n ! I really like what you are doing with audio and I believe that your project is as advanced on the audio side as mine on the graphics side. If we mix both projects we could have something pretty nice at the end. I will try to publish my code some time this week. I...

    Making a 1-bit game engine

I am a graphics designer and I like to play with my old Macs to make drawings and animations. I am new to game design and I discover the joy of making sprites as well as pixel art in general. I have worked as a software developer 20 years ago so I have some knowledge in this area. However, I am...

    Making a 1-bit game engine

Thanks @JDW ! I will see how to publish the source code. It is a bit messy at the moment. I have a folder for the actual source files next to a THINK C 5 project and a CodeWarrior Pro 5 project in their own folders. This way, I keep making sure that the engine works from System 6 all the way up...

    Making a 1-bit game engine

A few months ago, while learning C to make applications for my Mac SE, I was challenged by my son to make a cool game that would work on those old 68k compact Macs. I took the challenge but without knowing what sort of game I would make. Therefore, I started by understanding the concept of...

    Logging library for C projects

In the continuation of sharing the dev libraries that I use for my C projects, here is a small lib that lets one log text output from a C project. You can find it on AmendHub. It lets you log to the console (through printf()) or to a file. If the file is stored on a network volume from a Linux...
