Did anyone notice this detail on the rainbow X?

Based on what Apple legal did to 1-bit Rainbow (Pico Mac Nano), I would guess they did something. Because reproducing a Mac WELL involves accuracy and that goes down to the logos. Do I personally want a rainbow X on a small Mac reproduction or the original rainbow Apple logo? ANSWER: the...

Did anyone notice this detail on the rainbow X?

Knowing they are a Chinese company, it's probably unlikely they had that reasoning, but it's something I might have done if I were in their shoes. :-) Apple is pretty aggressive about silly things. Remember the guy in the UK who created the tiny Macintosh 128K? Apple Legal told him he could...

PowerFox - new web browser for Leopard on PowerPC!

I confirmed just now that the 7450/7447 build of 26.2.2 works on a G4 Cube with Sonnet 1.7GHz 7447A running OS X Tiger 10.4.11. Great! But the main problem I have is that if you use the Start Page and type Wikipedia into the Search field and hit return, you are given an "unusual traffic"...

Did anyone notice this detail on the rainbow X?

I think it’s quite obvious they simply said to themselves, “with our original stickers, we were just a sitting duck for Apple lawyers to come and get us.“ So they changed the sticker to that sitting duck and the rest of history. Such thinking isn’t without historical president. Remember the...

Did anyone notice this detail on the rainbow X?

LOL. I read it as MAC LOCK, not MA CLOCK. Funny. Yes, I've seen that gizmo before. Never knew about a sticker though. But it raises the question why the sticker is an X. In any case, the gap in the colors could easily be explained as a Chinese manufacturer saying something like, "See. We...

Did anyone notice this detail on the rainbow X?

I'm afraid we need to start from the beginning... What is Maclock? And why do they have a sticker?

Color Classic 640x480 mod sense line issues

@lilmul123 To begin, your entire Analog Board needs to be recapped. You made no mention about that, so I need to make mention of it. Not likely to cause a switching between 60 and 67Hz, but still a very important thing that must be done to avoid unexplainable problems. Next, your photos show...

PowerFox - new web browser for Leopard on PowerPC!

I confirmed today that the ATI Rage 128 Pro used in the G4 Cube has 16MB of VRAM.

    PowerBook power adapter compatibility?

Actually, you can. I know people who have safely used modern AC Adapters with their Portable but those Adapters match the Apple Adapter in terms of output being 7.5V @1.5A. Voltage and Current output must be the same, and such Adapters do exist. Tolerances of those modern Adapters (as reported...

    PowerBook power adapter compatibility?

@Fizzbinn Thank you for the links. No scary warning that I could find (yet) about AC Adapters rated for more Amps than the stock Adapters, but the search is still on for that. I see in some of the documents you linked that NiCd batteries were mentioned. I've seen people replacing those with...

    PowerBook power adapter compatibility?

The rabbit hole opens and now the heat is on the find that elusive tech note!

    PowerBook power adapter compatibility?

Actually, you need to go back to the Macintosh Portable to understand. It's not Ohm's Law. The Mac Portable's power system was really a crazy design because if you used another AC Adapter with the same voltage but higher current (even only 1A higher current output), that would fry motherboard...

    PowerBook power adapter compatibility?

I just now edited that link in my previous post, thanks. There are others like the following too: https://www.amazon.com/SRGTHE-Compatible-POWERPAX-PTD-07530V-Switching/dp/B0F93TM771/ I didn’t pick any of the voltage adjustable ones because most of those seem to require that you use an...

    PowerBook power adapter compatibility?

This thread is 4 years old, but it seems like no one has tested any AC Adapter rated above 3A out of fear that even the higher end models like the 180c lack the appropriate circuitry to handle more than 3A of current. But if a modern Adapter works well, it makes more sense to use them than the...

Interview with Bob "Dr. Macintosh" LeVitus

Exactly. And that’s why I always envisioned Sluggo to be punching Windoze (proper spelling) in the face back then. And what Power Computing was doing back in those days was no joke. They were besting Apple on the performance front and showcasing how great the Mac could be.

Interview with Bob "Dr. Macintosh" LeVitus

Wow! Love it. Where do I begin? In the first part of the video, LeVitus said he was "hot for Mac clones." Indeed, a lot of us were back in the day, even though I think most of us knew in our gut it wasn't going to work out so well for Apple. We users back then could see the negative impact...

PowerFox - new web browser for Leopard on PowerPC!

The G4 Cube I am testing on has the stock ATI Radeon Rage 128 Pro installed. So I guess 16MB of VRAM? The machine is at the office and I’m home for the weekend so I can’t check right now.

PowerFox - new web browser for Leopard on PowerPC!

I just downloaded the new v3.1 under OS 10.4.11 on my G4 Cube (with 1.7GHz Sonnet CPU). Disk image mounted fine. But the MacFox v3.1 app launched and crashed right away... Again, I don't know how to convey this info to the developer, but if anyone here does, please pass the word along. Thanks.

PowerFox - new web browser for Leopard on PowerPC!

Alas, it's not yet ready for Tiger. On a G4 Cube running a fresh install of 10.4 Tiger, the disk image won't even mount... When I update to 10.4.11, the disk image mounts and I can copy the app to my HDD, but when I launch it, it crashes. Reporting it here on TD because I don't know how to...

Testing Needed: Apple CD/DVD Driver 1.4.8 Universal For 7.1 - 9.2.2 (SCSI Drives)

I actually found this thread looking for the UNMODIFIED "Apple CD/DVD Driver" Extension that appears in a clean install of OS 9.2.2, but ultimately I found it. Attached is a ZIP archive of it for those who need it.
