    Mini vMac for Apple Silicon

I've uploaded builds of both these done on my intel mac to Macintosh Garden. I did not change from default options: https://github.com/hongjuny/Mini_vMac_ARM/ https://github.com/erichelgeson/minivmac The first is probably intel only (I did this to show it would also build there). The second...

CodeWarrior SDL2 for classic MacOS "rough draft"

I now have TinyGL as an alternate software renderer, which is "faster" on m68k, for SDL2.

68k OpenGL, Mesa and Glide work and lots of "useful" source code

Hey all, Because I've been working on SDL (1.2, 2 and 3) on classic Macs, I've been looking into OpenGL quite a bit lately. I've produced some stuff that may be useful to others, or at the very least help people avoid reinventing the wheel, so to speak. All of this works on ppc and m68k...

CodeWarrior SDL2 for classic MacOS "rough draft"

A lot has happened since the last post. srp/doctashay added full screen DrawSprockets, OpenGL and audio. He redid the event handling and finished keyboard decoding. He also fixed dozens of tiny bugs in threads and timers and main(), etc. He used it for a port of Half-Life for MacOS 9...

CodeWarrior SDL2 for classic MacOS "rough draft"

Now have SDL2_image, SDL2_mixer, SDL2_ttf and SDL2_gfx. SDL2_image and SDL2_mixer aren't using ANY external libraries yet, as I haven't built them, so file formats limited.

    SDL2 for m68k Amiga attempt...

Very early (and limited) AmigaOS 3 versions of SDL2_image, SDL2_mixer, SDL2_ttf, and SDL2_gfx now building. They work as far as they can. At https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/sdl2-macos-9-rough-draft

PowerMac 7100 and Linux (and NetBSD)

I have MkLinux on my 6100, which is a similar machine and it runs fine, if not speedily. Other distros are possible, as you mentioned, but likely not out of the box, and you will need to deal with many hitches and hacks, and likely need a special kernel, or some even just use the MkLinux one...

    SDL2 for m68k Amiga attempt...

git clone https://github.com/laulandn/sdl2macos9.git (Yes, same tree for MacOS 7/8/9 also) cd sdl2macos9/SDL-main (Don't use configure, uses gcc from AmigaPorts or elsewhere) make -fMakefile.amigaos3 cd test; make -fMakefile.amigaos3 Try out testcopyrenderex, testsprite2, teststreaming etc on...

CodeWarrior SDL2 for classic MacOS "rough draft"

Updates: Enough key and mouse events now for really basic games. Have switched primarily to Retro68 from Codewarrior and loving it. Split stuff only CodeWarrior needs just for it. All tests build, but, of course, many still fail due to missing drivers. Created skeleton audio and joystick...

    SDL2 for m68k Amiga attempt...

See screenshots 4 and 5 here: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/sdl2-macos-9-rough-draft I wondered what would happen if I changed "m68k-apple-macos-gcc" to "m68k-amigaos-gcc" in my Makefile? Added just enough code to get it properly building, then sketched out a bare minimum video driver...

68k Any sampling profilers for Mac 68k?

This is some impressive and very cool work you've done! I've been doing a lot of m68k Retro68 lately, and have moved my primary building and testing of my SDL2 port for MacOS 7/8/9 to it from CodeWarrior. Being able to use Makefiles makes things SO much simpler, cleaner, and easier to see what...

CodeWarrior SDL2 for classic MacOS "rough draft"

https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/sdl2-macos-9-rough-draft Very very rough port to classic MacOS, but tests work. Despite the current name (which I'll be changing), also runs on M68k 7.6. I created a video driver (which also handles events, only Command Q for now). Basic drawing...

A PowerPC Windows CE device: the Data General WiiN-PAD

I always wondered why there weren't any mainstream PowerPC PocketPC's...at the time I thought they just couldn't get them small enough, less power hungry, and fast enough. Seemed like a bit of an embarrassment for the PPC alliance that there were no handhelds. Was even the smallest 603 not...

    6o6: virtualizing the 6502 on the 6502

"Yo dawg, I heard you liked 6502's...so I put a 6502 in..."...oh wait, you already did that... You didn't mention if you implemented the classic 6502 bugs...bet you were tempted! https://hackaday.com/2023/09/24/celebrating-the-6502-with-song/

    Any interest in Palm Pilots?

Sure would be cool if a "nommu" version of NetBSD could be ported to Palm, eh? That'd only be for the m68k Palms, of course...the ARM based ones could run the full kernel! I did some work way back on getting Linux to run on the Dell Axim x3 (I won one in a raffle) and figuring out the GPIO's...

    Any interest in Palm Pilots?

In some ways the SuperH was ahead of its time. It has the "compressed" 16 bit opcodes not unlike thumb for arm. Dang! I totally forgot that "NetBSD runs on EVERYTHING"! Do you like it? I've never tried except on intel boxes...and struggled to get it going on a PowerBook 180, but couldn't...

    Any interest in Palm Pilots?

I've got one of those! (Jornada 680) Running the JLime Linux distro off a 1g sd card. It's interesting since it uses an unusual CPU, the SH3, little brother to the SH4 that the Sega Dreamcast uses. There were a lot of Windows CE devices that used this CPU, but little else. Anybody else have...

Powerbook 170 repair help needed (part 2)

Take a look over at macintoshgarden.org. I can't remember where exactly the set of install floppies I use on my 170 and 180 came from, but I'm pretty sure they're the generic 7.5 ones. I doubt there's a floppy version of 7.6.1. If you look enough you might find floppy images of the version that...
