Powerbook 540C with powerPC, What now?

Yea that's my big fear, I wondered if heating the plastics slightly before I pry them apart might make them slightly more easier to work with, not enough to melt them, but better then them being at room temp, the charger I took apart had some parts on the inside that shattered like glass...

Powerbook 540C with powerPC, What now?

Hey ya'll, I had recently picked up a Powerbook 540C with a NuPower 167mhz PowerPC 603ev for about 100 bucks. It with 8mb of ram on board and 32 mb of ram slotted in for a total of 40 megs. It has a old 500mb hard drive that ran for one final time, just long enough for me to test it, before...

Performa 575 Whining/Squealing noise, analog board

I wedged a piece of wood inside the computer that presses against the transformer and that shut it up, glued it in place and it seems to work fine now.

Performa 575 Whining/Squealing noise, analog board

I pushed on the transformer inside the computer and I noticed that it shuts up if I do so like you mentioned, pushing towards the CRT. I will continue to investigate, as mentioned the computer does appear to run fine, however I haven't tested extensively.

Performa 575 Whining/Squealing noise, analog board

Hey ya'll. I had recently acquired a Performa 578 off of market place and brought it home with me, it does function, and despite being a little bit dirty, it was in otherwise good condition. While it did work and boot to MacOS 7.1, it made this awful squealing noise the entire time it was...

Identifying mystery macintosh SE Accelerator/upgrade card

Update, so I did get it working and installed system 7.1, I solution was to reseat the 68EC030 CPU, and that fixed it. mystery solved I guess. It came with a good 4mb of ram but now I'm interested in pushing this thing my questions are: 1. Would I see an improvement from dropping in a full...

Identifying mystery macintosh SE Accelerator/upgrade card

The voltage with the card installed reads at 4.90v, without the card installed, the voltage reads at 5.00V Some more updates, I decided to reseat the ram on the card, I finally figured out how to remove it, it didn't seem to make a difference, the card behaved the same with the ram installed...

Identifying mystery macintosh SE Accelerator/upgrade card

So updates, I have been able to confirm that the power supply is good, both with and without the accelerator that 5 volt and 12 volt rail stay mostly the same, I'd like the swap/reseat the memory but I can't seem to figure out for the life of me how to remove the simms on the accelerator, the...

Identifying mystery macintosh SE Accelerator/upgrade card

Wow, good stuff everyone, I'll probably take phipli's suggestion and clean/reseat the accelerator card, or maybe swap the memory from my SE's motherboard onto it to see if it works, I don't know if the SE itself needs memory when it has an accelerator installed, the documentation suggests it...

Identifying mystery macintosh SE Accelerator/upgrade card

Hey ya'll For context: About a day ago I had picked up a macintosh SE off of marketplace for about ~100$ with a keyboard and a few ADB mice, the computer was sold as for parts but was in otherwise in good condition, I got home and plugged it in on my bench and it didn't boot properly, showing...
