Making a replacement Hinge for a 15" Studio Display

Stumbled upon this thread and wanted to add the files for the 17" display. I made these a bit more than 3 years ago, but if anyone needs them they are here. Mine are also with threaded holes, but you will still need to put a tap through them to clear it out. And I also had same experience with the printing, one was perfect, the other one was a tad too large, but after some filing it would fit. This was originally posted on 68kmla:

I can happily report that after tensioning the springs on the monitor hinge everything is working great!

I will be posting the second aluminum piece I had created by shapeway for sale at cost $62.77 US in the North America Trading Post Section of the forums. Just be aware that it will likely need to be filed down to fit the the leg properly but it's already been tapped for the 3mm screws so it should be a pretty to assemble.
I know that you posted this a while ago but I am wondering if the second aluminum piece is still available for sale?

If I get a new aluminum hinge printed using the above file for the 15 inch apple studio display, can anyone describe the steps necessary and tools required to remove the old broken hinge and install the new hinge?

Not sure where you are getting it printed, but I printed a Mac SE brightness knob in stainless steel from JLC3DP and it turned out great. I put the part from the original post in and shipped to the US would be about $11. Which seems like a pretty good price for a stainless steel version.

iFixit has many guides, this one is the basic, probably not far enough to swap the parts. But once you have the hinge removed, it should be pretty self explanatory.

Bumping this as I have two monitors to fix due to hinge failure, and another which is not broken, but I need to tighten the hinge as it splays out fully. Just marking this for myself.
